CIPFA Finance Advisory Network (FAN)

Welcome to the FAN web pages

The CIPFA Finance Advisory Network (FAN) was launched in January 2002, since then it has gone from strength to strength. The network is now able to boast of an impressive membership of nearly 300 public sector bodies across the United Kingdom, mainly from local authorities but also covering police (which has its own associate membership network), fire and transport authorities.

The network is built upon a clear vision and objective. It is designed for finance professionals, members and other local authority officers who wish to work together to enhance the effectiveness of their financial management in supporting improved service delivery during a period of unprecedented public sector reform.

The CIPFA FAN wishes to encourage all local authority accounting practitioners to respond to the CIPFA financial and stakeholder reporting simplification debate by the 31st of July 2008. This collection of FAN documents has been presented to all CIPFA Practitoners on an open access basis. This is a unique opportunity for practitioners to influence the financial and stakeholder reporting landscape before IFRS comes on stream in 2010\11. The attached FAN presentations cover the simplification debate and there is also a briefing document which summarises the views of delegates on the simplification agenda which were obtained during the July series. It is hoped that this suite of documents will assist you in responding to CIPFA by the 31st of July 2008. We trust that practitoners find these documents helpful. Full details of this CIPFA consultation are at: http://www.cipfa.org.uk/pt/consultations.cfm#stakeholder Please respond in time. You have until the 31st of July.
