The CIPFA Pensions Panel

CIPFA has a well established Pensions Panel chaired by Bob Summers, former County Treasurer of Norfolk County Council. The Panel consists of expert volunteers from CIPFA, CLG, the Audit Commission, NAPF, local authorities and independent consultants, together with a representative from a specialist actuarial firm. The Panel produces specialist guidance in the form of good practice notes for recent developments in pensions fund management and, periodically, a Pensions Newsletter. The CIPFA Pension Panel is now keen to develop a range of seminars and training to cover, amongst other things, the governance and administration of pensions, including current developments.

The Pensions Panel focuses in particular on the following issues in so far as they impact upon public service pensions and advises other CIPFA Panels on these issues in so far as they relate to pensions:

  • Accounting and auditing
  • Reporting and disclosure
  • Pension scheme/fund management
  • Scheme governance
  • Changes to the regulatory environment

The CIPFA Pensions Panel is a functional, cross-sectoral Panel that reports to CIPFA’s Public Finance and Management Board (PFMB).
