CIPFA Police Advisory Network (PAN)

Welcome to the Police Advisory Network web pages

The CIPFA Police Advisory Network (PAN) aims to provide police professionals with practical, relevant and up-to-date advice during a period of unprecedented public service reform. The network focuses on legislative developments, Government policy and strategic policing issues that have implications for police forces and authorities.

The network offers support to members in considering the issues involved and what needs to be done to facilitate the implementation of new initiatives and legislative requirements. The network also considers issues of good practice. It achieves this through effective briefing of its members at quarterly regional workshops, via bulletins on current issues and ad hoc analyses of Home Office legislation, policy documents and HMIC inspection reports.

The policing landscape continues to change rapidly. The Home Office is shortly to publish a green paper on police reform and the content is likely to have far reaching implications across the full spectrum of policing, partnerships and performance issues. We anticipate that benefits of attending the workshops will include: • The opportunity to discuss the philosophies and intentions of the green paper directly with the Home Office • A key opportunity to interact with the Home Office Team developing the policing Plan and to directly contribute to the development of guidance. • An opportunity to consider key elements of the green paper in detail and to share views with colleagues.
