About The Social Care Finance Advisory Network
The Health and Social Care Strategy Commissioning and Finance Network has been running for almost ten years. We have continually changed our offering to reflect changes in the health and social care horizon and will continue to do so.
The network has a national influence. We were recently involved in a review of integrated commissioning; and we expect to continue our involvement in integration; the work of the NHS Future Forum and future legislation.
We have developed good links with the Department of Health and are developing increasing links with other bodies with an interest in health and social care especially those with an interest in integration across health, public health and social care including The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), the Kings Fund, the NHS Future Forum and the Nuffield Trust.
The network provides advice and support for:
- members of the new health and well being board, and others involved in the development of health and well being strategies;
- those offering financial advice to health and well being boards, clinical commissioning groups and those in local authorities with responsibility for health, public health and social care or other related organisations.
- commissioners of health, social care and public health services (such as clinical commissioning groups), with a special focus on long term condition services commissioning.
In 2011 much of the year focussed on the rapidly changing health and social care landscape, our papers were well received and around 175 delegates attending events throughout the year. We also increased our emphasis on briefing papers, conscious of the reductions in policy and advice functions in relevant organisations locally and nationally.

We will publish papers and provide updates on:
- Integrated Commissioning;
- Innovation and Productivity;
- The Health and Social Care Bill;
- The Zero Based Review;
- Public Health Funding and The White Paper on Social Care.
