Developing Finance Professionals in the Developing Issues
To further support the local government finance community in meeting the development needs of all their finance staff,
the CIPFA Finance Advisory Network and CIPFA Training and Development Services is pleased to announce a revised approach
to in-house finance technical training through a re-launched Professional Development Programme (PDP).
The PDP offers a range of technical training opportunities for local government finance staff, designed to provide
an understanding of current and critical local government finance issues. This will not only strengthen your
organisation's capacity, but contribute to individual development requirements.
In common with the schemes of other professional bodies, CIPFA’s CPD scheme is based upon individual need and objectives.
However, the content the PDP may well contribute towards delegates' CPD requirements.
The PDP is made up of the following elements:
Technical Update Course for Finance Professionals
Drawing on the work of the Financial Advisory Network, this one day seminar will provide all of the essential
updating information of what is new in local government finance and accounting.

Technical training for new Local Government Finance Professionals
This one day course is designed to orientate finance professionals new to local government in the rules,
regulations and procedures required in the sector. It concentrates on the differences in general accounting
procedures and the unique nature of local government financial reporting.

This one day seminar is designed to support the finance team in developing a vision for financial management
within the council.

The Professional Development Programme comes to you!
One of the most attractive features of the PDP is that all courses are delivered on site, at a venue of your choice.
This enables you to maximise the number of colleagues able to attend, whilst minimising the time and cost of travel
to external venues.
We are more than happy to work with either individual finance departments, or why not share the benefit with your
surrounding authorities by running a shared PDP seminar?
All we ask is that delegate numbers are limited to 30 on each seminar to ensure that our trainer can address
individual questions and issues during the day.
Price
The cost of each day is £1,500 plus expenses (discounted price of £1,400 plus expenses for FAN subscribers).
Please note that should you require tailored training we reserve the right to make a charge for our development
time based on the above day rate.
