The Treasury Management Forum (TMF)

The Treasury Management Forum
The core objectives of the Treasury Management Forum are:
  • to create a national Forum where the major treasury management issues of the day can be discussed and debated in an impartial and informed environment; and
  • to provide a local Network to connect participants with good practice through the dissemination of timely and authoritative information and knowledge amongst practitioners in the treasury management field.
The Treasury Management Forum aims to achieve these objectives using a combination of a dedicated information-based website, national seminars and local workshops.

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has recommended that local authority finance scrutiny committees, and Audit Committees in particular, are given specific responsibilities for the scrutiny of local authority investment decisions. This was one of the key recommendations set out within its Treasury Management Bulletin published in March 2009 which contained a number of proposals for strengthening treasury management practices in the light of the Icelandic banks collapse.
