CIPFA Treasury Management Network (TMN)
About the Treasury Management Network
The core objectives of the Treasury Management Network are:
- to create a national Forum where the major treasury management issues of the day can be discussed and debated in an impartial and informed environment; and
- to provide a local Network to connect participants with good practice through the dissemination of timely and authoritative information and knowledge amongst practitioners in the treasury management field.
The Treasury Management Network aims to achieve these objectives using a combination of a dedicated information-based website, national seminars and local workshops.
An Impartial Voice in Treasury Management
Funded solely from the subscriptions of its members, the Treasury Management Network can genuinely claim to bring an impartial voice to bear on the big issues of treasury management.
The Network will highlight differing viewpoints; it will derive authority and influence from its independence of all interested parties and from the experience and expertise which it represents.
Importantly, the Network acknowedges, but is independent of, CIPFA’s Treasury Management Panel which is the body that moderates the standards.
Complementary Links
This Network complements our existing service to treasury management practitioners, through our benchmarking clubs, and builds on the impartial performance measurement support which they provide.
A Local Club
At the local level, the Treasury Management Network will offer practitioners many of the advantages of a club. It aims to bring treasury managers together in a collaborative support network. Under the guidance of treasury management experts, members can share ideas and experiences on the challenging issues of the day with their peers, as well as being able to discuss fine detail of the day-to-day operations of the treasury management function.
Treasury management is a highly specialised discipline: in all but the largest authorities it may be the responsibility of only one or two people, making it more difficult to gain a broad and informed perspective on financial market developments or the interpretation of new regulations or legislation. As a member of the Treasury Management Network, there will always be a community of peers to share issues.
An Inclusive Approach
The Network will highlight, debate and seek to influence national issues. Genuinely inclusive of all stakeholders, such as local authorities, treasury consultants, fund managers, the Audit Commission, brokers or CIPFA, the Network will be positioned nationally at the heart of treasury management developments.
